Tabernanthe iboga seeds are fresh and should be sown upon arrival, as they may have even started to germinate during transit. Sow the seeds 10-15 millimeters under the surface of a high-quality seed-raising mix. In our experience, peeling off a portion of the brown seed coat from each end of the seed and exposing only the white embryo has hastened seed emergence and the ability to shed the seed coat (though it’s not mandatory). Maintain the seeds moist and warm until germination, which typically takes 2-8 weeks. Iboga prefers a partial shade position (50%) with rich, well-draining soil. During the summer, provide regular applications of both liquid and solid fertilizer. Iboga requires ample root space, so pot it up regularly when you notice white roots emerging from the drainage holes. Keep the plant in a warmer area during the winter months and reduce watering.

If you’ve ordered the entire fruit, the best method for extracting the seeds is to let it sit in a warm spot until the fruit softens and turns a darker blackish color. Once the fruit is ripe, open it and clean the seeds before sowing.
